rear heater fan

Post by fh9977 »

Hi - is the fan in the rear heater under bench seat meant to move freely when you spin it? Mine is stuck, when I switched the heater on the other day I could smell burnt electrics, heater fun wasn't spinning and now it is nearly stuck. Van is a 1988 Caravelle Diesel. Any ideas?

I dont have a fan there but only in the dashboard, sounds as if the blades have stuck and the motor may have burnt out trying to rotate them.

Are the fans for front and rear heaters the same?
I had a look online but can't find the rear fan specifically.

Unfamiliar with that type of fitment so cannot offer much guidance.  Maybe worth removing it too have a better look and see if it can be repaired.  I would take care though due to plumbing issues and disconnect battery also.  Somebody on this forum must have the same fitment so should offer more advice, so stay tuned as they say.

Most folks have removed them altogether. There may be a few who have stuck them in a shed somewhere. Stick an ad in the wanted section or try and ring Mick Crowe (nw_vw_T25) 07968367046
