Hot starting problems

Post by AdyB73 »

Hi all,

I’m sure there will be a post on here with my related problem and would appreciate a pointer in the right direction if so.

Had a new 2.1dj engine fitted to my wagon and runs fine other than if on a long run I stop the engine for 5-10 minutes then try to start again no joy!

Engine just cranks over but doesn’t fire! Very frustrating.

Will start again once engine has cooled a little.

Please help!!

Does it smell of petrol when it won’t start?
and when it does start does it smoke ?

check the connections and the condition of the wires onto and from the temp2 switch ( the second port on the thermostat housing that faces the wheel )

Many thanks Steve for your reply.

There is no petrol smell but will check the wires as you’ve mentioned from the thermostat.

Cheers

May not be of any use but i had the same problem. My engine was a JX though to might be totally different. (I know nothing of petrol engines) Turns out it was the stop solenoid or more so, a poor connection to it. I could get her to start by touching the connection on the solenoid directly to the pos on the battery.

Like i said, might be of no use.
