Yes, oil I suspect if it’s leaking before you take it to bits

yep
thrust washer on top of reverse gear, thrust washer shim on top of 1st gear and potentially 1st gear will fall out
looks like the box is overfilled and parked nose down so oil has been coming out of the breather hole on the top, it doesn't take much to make things look wet
what was the drainplug magnet like ?

Hi Aidan
I removed About 4lt of oil the van dose sit nose down the front is lowered the rear standard hight So it’s very possible that is the case
How much oil should be in the box And the items that may fall of if cover is removed do they just slide back on easy?
Thanks

gearbox should only take 4 litres from empty, which is not the same as full to overflowing the filler plug, I don't have a 2wd diesel so I don't know where 4 litres comes to, probably about a slightly bent small finger below the filler hole

looking at the end cover it is just to the left of the case bolt that is in the 1 o'clock position, 2wd same for both 4 or 5 speed versions, it's about 4mm hole
