Refurb of Diesel fuel Injection Pump

Post by steveo9007 »

So i am in the process of refurbing my recently removed pump, as you can see below
Image

As you can see when i took the top off this is what i was faced with, there seems a lot of what looks like rust around all the components, is this where there have been water in the diesel and with it not being used for extended periods before i got it it has gone rusty. See Below.

Here are the components played out and they look in the same condition the parts that are on the inside of the pump.

is there anything i can use to clean this up with out damaging any of them or is it a wasted exercise, i am quite happy to explore any options you guys may have, i do have an ultra sonic cleaner if that's any use. I will add to this thread as i go along with the refurb.

Just an update, have inspected all components on this pump and its foobarred, there are too many pitted and worn down surfaces on this pump to make it back to life, so won't be putting it back together again, its going in the bin.
