Tachometer ‘82 Air cooled

Post by Jay Peg »

Hi,

been doing a little research on buying and installing a Tachometer on my ‘82 2.0 air cooled.
Wondered if anyone has any knowledge on this to point me in the right direction. As I’m a beginner on my T25 any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jay

Welcome

Have a read here

On the air cooled you will probably need to run a wire from the coil direct to the tacho as the "green" wire will probably not be there.

Not really, you can try and get what I got off ebay or similar. They just need to be able to work on a 4 cylinder engine

Hello,

Do you know about the red dots on your speedo.... :?:

If you really want to do this, I would suggest running a multi core wire from the engine bay to the dashboard and avoid using the chassis as an earth.

That way you will have the wiring ready for all those other accessories that VW never needed to fit to a carb air-cooled engine...

Cordialement,

:ok
