Help identify part

Post by mariner »

Hi. Was under the van today and noticed badly perished hoses running from front to back. Think they are coolant but appreciate confirmation from anyone who can help.

Would also be interested in identifying the part below. It’s held on with cable ties rather than mounted securely on anything. Cheers.

Heater hoses, they run along next to the front/ rear coolant pipes.

The cable tied part is an ignition barrel, I take it you have a subaru engine installed .
It has to be wired in along with the key or the engine will not start.

the hose is probably fine just the waxoil underseal is cracking because it's been moved
if you remove the subaru key the vehicle won't start so it provides a useful immobiliser function, as long as you don't lose the key
and doesn't stop someone stealing the vehicle with a low loader though
