Fitting new upper radiator grille clips...

Post by silverbullet »

Any top tips for getting these stubborn little blighters refitted to the body without wrecking the new paint?
I have sprayed on some Tetrosyl to assist but the new ones seem to be a really hard fit :(

probably make a wooden former with a cut out in that you can place at the rear and then use pipe pliers to squeeze them in, one side of the jaw on the wood one side on the clip to
you probably have a lot more paint than factory so your holes are smaller, but they are a tight fit normally

Thanks, I was expecting more like firm engineer's thumb x2 pressure to snap them in.
Need to put her face back on, got a nice late upper grille from Neil (still has it's cards!)

Never managed successfully without chipping some paint.
Tried bending out the lugs ever so slightly. Then it just fell out again.
Bottom lug in first then use of pliers is the end route.

Yep, the middle one chipped at the bottom. Slobbered it with more Tetrosyl, fitted grille, moved on in mild disgust. Hey ho.
