Ive just chaged over from 185/14 c to 205 70 14c any thoughts on whether pressures should be the same or different to 185s. Ive got 40 front and 50 rear andvfronts feel v rsttly I.e. showing up suspension faults. Cheerd

Hi. So if 185/R14C should be roughly 35-40psi front, 45-50psi rear, would 195/R14C be that too, or slightly higher? I'm well below that currently! Sorry to revive an old topic, I'm a newbie

I've got a 1983 Caravelle with nothing but a full width r&r bed in the back, but I will be adding a fridge at some point. It's powered by a 17-year-old non-turbo EJ25 Subaru engine. I'm not getting great MPG but I do roll along at 70 where legal. I need to get the pressures right.

Hi folks,
I’m new to the club, and new to the T3 Owning experience.
Bought a T3 in March and had a few hiccups; like breaking down after pickup with some work needed , but I’m soon to have it available for some adventure.
It’s currently got 16 inch Mercedes ML wheels with 265/65/R16 tyres fitted.
Finding the desired pressure is proving difficult. Has anyone got a steer please?

Yup, sell on those horrors and get some proper wheels and tyres. Mefro 15” steeliness with 215/75r15 ATs from your favourite maker (BFG, General Grabber, Coopers, Michelin). I run ours on 38psi all around, although some run the rears a little higher than the fronts. I air down off road and air up when back on tarmac. I also vary the pressure a little depending on the weight of the van and the ride. There’s no hard and fast.

Why ATs? Or even Mefros? It's not a Syncro, unless I've missed something?
I agree it'll ride better with standard wheels and some decent tyres on, standard 14" steels with 195/80R14C would be nice.
But if you want to stick with the big wheels, firstly check your tyres are correctly load rated (at least 97). Then look at the max pressure stamped into the tyre, and at what weight. Multiply the max pressure by the actual weight (at that wheel), divide by the max weight, and that'll give you a guide to your ideal pressure.

But if its on 16's now, best stick with them unless you faff with the gearbox.
Mefro 16s no longer available though - so steel merc 16s or genuine syncro 16s (££££££).  
Much happier with mine now its on steels and im rid of those air leaking alloy MLs.

Autodata lists the following.

185 R 14 C     Front 47    Rear 54
205 R 14 C     Front 36    Rear 43
I have 225/55-!6's on my bus and run with 40 front and 42 rear. 
No issues with tyre wear and a decent ride even though bus is lowered.

my 87 WBX 1.9 DG does 39F 48R on 185's.
What I do have a problem is a decent 12v tyre inflator that can deliver the psi needed. The Halfords one I've used for years has finally given up the ghost.

Same tyre pressure I use iaw  the silver tag on the inside of the passenger door.. Tried using my cheap inflator from argos the other day, would not go further than 36 psi as kept stalling or blowing the fuse, also pump and plug were getting v warm, had to go to a petrol garage to pump up the rears to 48 psi. mine are 185 R14C
