Seized bolt removal help please
Hiya,
Tried removing the bolt that connects the wishbone to the suspension mount today but it's seized solid.
We've tried a breaker bar, lots of heat and a low end air impact wrench to no avail.
Just wondering if anyone has any more suggestions before we resort to trying to cut the bolt out without damaging anything else around it.
TIA x

Bath it in penetrating release fluid?

Depends on size of breaker bar. A whopper will do it
They are fairly tight but normal do shift with plus gas or penetrating oil. Add a short scaffold pole to bar or use a trolley jack under breaker bar.

Re: Seized bolt removal help please
The one side flew out on mine but the other side wouldn't move.
Did you manage to get the nut off?
I used a bolt and a nut to press on it (it still didn't move much) I think the key to it was moving it in and out. Pressing it out with the bolt and knocking it back in with a hammer to loosen up the surface fust.

Re: Seized bolt removal help please
It would appear we may need to upgrade to a bigger breaker bar...
Thanks for the suggestion
We haven't been able to budge anything. Tried heat on both sides but she's a stubborn old moose.
Thanks for the suggestion, will bear it in mind and try again to get some movement on it!

The 14mm Allen key on the other side does not fully rotate it's for adjusting the Camber
Re: Seized bolt removal help please
A very valid point. It will only rotate through an arc before locking.

Hello, apologies in advance by asking a question and not giving a remedy, is this the rear trailing arms we are talking about and what part, looking at the image supplied trying to figure out exactly where. Need to add it to my, I hope it doesn't happen to me list and if so tips on how to resolve it. Tks T.

Hello and thanks, I have seen many topics on this area and dreading it if I have to do it, recently cleaned mine up and greased over them. Have you seen the quite in depth video by one of the members about removing them by use of a grinder and other methods, cannot put my finger on it att but sure it is either on the wiki or you tube.

I thought you were talking about the front suspension wishbone!
At the other end eh! Just cut through it with a cutting blade attached to an angle grinder and replace bolts from Brickwerks.
