What should go between thermal block under Carburettor?

Big lumps of metals and spanners. Including servicing and fluids.

What should go between thermal block under Carburettor?

Post by reessi »

What should go between thermal block under Carburettor?

So I took my carbs off a month ago and can not remember if there should be something between the thermal block and the manifold pipes?

Should I just grease the thermal block? How will it seal, there is a seal between the carb and thermal block! The kit did not come with another gasket but maybe would burn anyway in the heat? There is a bigger gasket there I could make fit.

I took a load of pictures but there is no option to add pictures on here?

Cheers.

How do I add pictures? Is there a way or I have to upload to a sharing website, it asks for a URL but surly then they expire and then there will be no pictures on this forum after a few months!

Cheers

Ah ok, it is confusing because there is an icon labeled image but only asks for a URL!

The last picture shows that one of the gaskets could be made to fit if there is meant to be one under the thermal block?ImageImageImage

Hello,

For the term 'thermal block' I willl use bakelite spacer.

Use a paper gasket on either side, so 4 per pair of carbs..

Mounted DRY...no Goop..

Easily available on line..

Air-Cooled Bliss... 8)

The spacer( phenolic,Is a thermal barrier) has a gasket on either side , the gasket is very thin and it looks like they are still on , the gaskets won’t come in an engine rebuild kit , they are part of the carb rebuild kit

Ok thanks, I'll use the 2 in the picture. I can make the one that is slighlty bigger fit. So the heat won't affect the gasket under the thermal block?

Not related to the insulator block, check the screws holding the flange above it to the carb body.  I've found them loose in the past :)
