fridge resurrection Brighton
Hi,
I've got an old fridge that came with the van (1989 LHD diesel) but has never been fitted.
I need to get it back from storage this week but hoping to go wild this summer and would be amazing to be able to camp up with a cold beer It is an old model (electrolux?) and looks very retro, I can't seem to find a similar image online to get the model number.
Anyone know a fitter/fridge resurector in the East Sussex area who could possibly take on the job? No vents etc. in the van so they would need to be fitted presuming the fridge can be bought back. Would be aiming to run off gas.
Much appreciated..
Cheers!

Re: fridge resurrection Brighton
Cheers for the reply, that's useful.. I reckon it is one of the RM models. once I get my hands back on it I'll have a proper look and try and troubleshoot it.
If anyone else has a recommendation or has had something like this done near Brighton be good to hear.
Ta,
Ian

Re: fridge resurrection Brighton
Morning all
I’m based in Brighton and I have a Electrolux RM122 (also have a spare) ... if you want to pop
up and compare to see if yours the same as mine. Then at least you’ll know what you have.
As Mocki said there is a good download on here for the Electrolux fridge . Sorry can’t help on the fitting side.
Good luck

Re: fridge resurrection Brighton
Cheers, kind of you to offer, I've got to make sure I can get it here first before I get too stuck in, I had a bit of look through the manual and also found a good video on servicing and troubleshooting:

If I can't get it going would your spare be for sale?
Ta,
Ian

Good luck
Spare definitely works on 12v and mains
90 % sure it worked on gas £30.
Thanks Neil

Re: fridge resurrection Brighton
Hi Neil,
I'm having a poke around to see if I can find a local fitter. I might have to bail on my original for reasons I won't bore you with here!
I've got a space which I think I remember as 39cm wide x 49cm deep x 60 tall (van currently out and about so can't check) where the old unfitted fridge used to sit.
Is your spare a RM122? If so the dimensions seem to match up:ModelRM122Gas IgnitionPiezoGas ControlValveDimensions: mmH588 x W382 x D439Net Weight (kg)14.5
could be one step closer to that cold beer
Cheers,
Ian

...and maybe didn't make it clear in the last post, but if your spare fits then I would be ready to come and pick it up with cash. It would also be really useful to see how yours is fitted.

Re: fridge resurrection Brighton
Hello Ian
The dimensions are as above , just dug it
out from back of shed.
Can’t find bottom grill , been sitting number
of years but as stated I wired up and it worked
electric, gas would have to be checked by professional.
A little tatty on top but that can be sorted and
it’s hidden away any way.

Re: fridge resurrection Brighton
Cheers Neil,
It looks like I've actually got to go to my folks next week where my original fridge is stowed away, I'm going to have another crack at it with a bit of new found knowledge.
If I fail spectacularly to get it going I'll give you a shout, but if you need to sell it in the meantime that's totally fine.
Cheers,
Ian

Re: fridge resurrection Brighton
Hi all,
Thanks for your help. So I happened upon a treasure trove of a van being broken purely by chance (was going to pick up a swivel seat), condition of everything was an unknow so I spent 6 hours stripping out the fridge, sink, zig unit, and zig electrical control panel. '85 high top and unbelievably it still had the original TV and these insane slide out wine racks either side - camping in '80's style..
So far fridge cleaned up and tested via the zig unit and zig unit putting out good steady voltage and fridge cooling nicely! Just waiting on a regulator to test the gas with the fridge as a next step, flue etc. has been given a through cleanout and piezo spark working...
one step forwards But will probably be posting more questions about how to hook it all together so I can get the zig unit powering the fridge while driving and essentially a leisure system up and running. I got most of the cabling out as it was to try and learn how they'd rigged it and trying to get my head around the instruction manuals I found online.
There was also a water pump, but that seems dead though replacements are pretty cheap on ebay.
Been a busy few days Will most likely have some spare bits at the end which I'll post up on the forums...
