T25 1985, no adjuster hole in drum or backplate?

Hello,

Has anyone come across a T25 without a star adjuster hole either in the backplate or the drum to adjust up the drum brakes?

Can an adjuster hole be drilled into existing drums, if so what are the measurements to place the hole and how big should the hole be?

I might go to a machine shop to get the drums re skimmed anyway, any recommendations as to where in London West and how much that will be?

Also what would the wear limit be on the drums, if I measure the amount that's worn away with a digi caliper?

This is what I am currently facing. If I tighten the adjusters then I can't put the drums back on due to wear. Any ideas?

The handbrake is a bit high.

Does anyone have any second hand cheap drums? I will paypal and pay postage. (I'm on a budget.)

Hole is in backplate not drum.Where are you looking?
I wouldn't skim - new drums are not that expensive compare to a life or two. No such thing as a budget where brakes are concerned. ( Cheap drums at BW are only £30 ea)

Wear limit is shown on the drums themselves. It is accurate. If you use drums beyond that size the piston can pop out with unwanted consequences.

You can remove the lip with a file / grinder to make removal / replacement easier. It also makes measurement of the drum diameter easier.

Yes you can drill a hole in the back plate to get to this cog if the hole does not exist, perhaps some aftermarket plates don't have the hole?

click the cog down on both sides to make the shoes tighter and up to loosen

Thanks all for your advice, I will check the thickness of the drums and replace as necessary.

In regards to the backplate, could I have a measurement on where to drill, and what size drill bit to use? I fancy drilling this hole so I can get to the adjuster.

Why do you need any measurement - just drill a pilot hole behind the adjuster where you need it, take the shoes off and drill as large a hole as your adjusting tool needs.

This ^^^ or if you must drill with the adjuster in place then you can measure yourself, you can see where the adjuster cog is.
