My 2.1 DJ engine has blown a head seal. Though it's been fairly well looked after, it's done around 130,000 miles, so I expect other horrors will be lurking inside.
My initial response is to buy a rebuilt engine 'off the shelf' - it should be quicker, and less likely to encounter hidden problems with the likes of rusty head studs.
It's also something my local garage man is happy to do. He recommends Vege engines - he says he's installed dozens, and has never had any problems.
So I'm just asking on here - who has installed a 'new' engine off the shelf? Which supplier did you use, and are you happy with it?

Many will say vege engines are bad, P.O. put mine in, it’s done about 30k mls and been great, there was some green silicone around the fuel pump and that leaked oil for a while.
No problems to report.

It would make much more sense for this to be left on the ‘general’ page, where more people are likely to see it and respond. It’s hardly a mechanical query...
