1986 Singlecab I

One Saturday a wave of boredom came over me and then I saw NW_VW_T25’s advert for an ‘86 single cab. I’ve not really been looking for another project but thought what the heck! It only needs an engine an gearbox right?

So I’ll build a thread of my endeavours over the next few months / years and you can all look in and be glad it’s not you!

So, start with the engine ...




Wilbur gave me a dg engine but it had df heads on it, don’t know why but I’m swapping them over for dg heads. Just a matter of assembling it now and parts hunting. Need a mounting bar next.

It won’t be perfect, too many dents but it’s rust free and that’s ok by me.

I have an engine mounting bar free to a good home if that's what you mean?

Rust free is a definate bonus and a few dents on a single cab are just battle scars.
Watching with interest.

if you mean the crack that will probably be fine, pull the valves and check it doesn't extend behind the seat
