Steel wheels not right? 5.5" or 6"

Post by Gary. »

Just had the tyres changed on the syncro, the fitters said it was odd that the spare was a 6" rim yet the four on the vehicle were 5.5".

I was supposed to be elated after getting the new boots, now I'm just sad. :(

So as far as I understand, these 5.5" wide steelies are of a regular T25? But the spare is original?

If this is the case, I'm in the market for some OE 14" syncro steel wheels (and I know there are LOTS out there  ).

I'm not sure what's going on there, but the original (bombproof) 16" Syncro steels are only 5.5" width.

Seen those, even made an inquiry. If you look, the tyres appear to be breaking up within the tread.

They are listed as 6", so are mine the wrong ones?

The 6inch wheels as far as I understand are standard fitment on a UK spec rhd syncros along with twin lockers spats and the rear fog lights. That's what would have come from the factory when new along with any other options that were ordered at the time.
The tyre size from memory for a 6inch wheel in modern money would be 205 80 14.
With this size wheel and tyre a syncro is an absolute joy to drive.
Thanks neil

Unless you have an early one, no spats on mine so it had skinny wheels from new.

Can you check and see if there is a stamped code on the rim?

I've been lazy, should have checked the rims first. It turns out the 4 'rolling' rims are in fact 6"originals, the spare is 5.5"

The code on the 6" rim is SRD 142601, also says ET30.

The 5.5" rim clearly says 014x5.5

Thanks for the offers, but I'll keep things as they are. Useful link: https://translate.google.co.uk/translat ... rev=search
