Tip if fitting new nut to front shock absorber

Hello

A lot may already know this but some may not so here goes.

I was trying to fit the new nylock nut to the top of my new front shock absorber unsuccessfully. This was because the nylock nut was gripping the thread of the strut before the flat on the rod was high enough to get a 7mm spanner on the flat to stop it spinning.

After some head scratching I took my other new front shock (not on the van) and threaded the nylock nut onto the thread. Tightening it down wasn't a problem as I was able to hold the rod to allow the nylock to thread on. I then took the nylock nut off and threaded it onto the thread of the shock on the van. As the initial stiffness of the nylock had now been removed it threaded on just enough for me to be able to get the 7mm spanner on the top and tighten it up.

Hope that makes sense and helps some people :-)

yep you could have used a bolt too but now its a used nyloc with less grip, probably fine though

Once threaded on the shock can stick some thread lock on too for piece of mind
