Is lithium grease ok for steering rack?

Big lumps of metals and spanners. Including servicing and fluids.

Whilst swapping out the steering bushes for poly ones I noticed one of the bellows was spit.

Looks like its going to fail its MOT on Monday now :(

Anyhoo, I am reading conflicting info as to what grease to use to smear the rack?

VW recommends special grease G 052168A1 available from VW dealers or VW Heritage. Definitely not lithium grease.
