rest assured no k seal or any other sealing product is going in the system !

mechanic meant stick silicone sealant on the outside of the threads between gap/plastic i.e. just rub finger round outside don't undo the switch.

Replace the rad when you get back. Relax, chill out, you'll be fine.

I intend to do just that !

Probably a silly question but have you got the fibre (similar) wash fitted to the fan switch?

Yes probably, mine was an pre 84 so from memory it was fibre but I think later ones are copper.

I wouldn't reuse the copper sealing washer, it will most likely be a very soft metal that once deformed could need replacing in order to get a seal.

good point but with the amount of PTFE tape i wouldn't think this is an issue...saying that I've taken it out 3 times !

think is 22 x29 o ring !

If you are inserting the thread into plastic you will not be able to tighten down enough onto a copper washer, usually it is an o-ring for plastic. Can't remember what mine had when I did it years ago. A fibre washer would be more preferable to copper on plastic I would have thought.

The o ring that came with the Meyle switch was copper looked like two bits of copper squashed against each other
I purchased another switch from GSF on way home today and the o ring is flat and silver which is more looks like the material type but metal

I know the photo isn't from the side but from what I can see, there isn't any ptfe tape 'spoil img' and visual from the outside. Have you put enough on?
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

Yes What2do is right ptfe will create an o ring with over 20 turns of tape.
As the thread runs in the excess ptfe squeezes out forming a sealing ring.

Thanks for all your help, before we left I redid the ptfe tape and almost a week in and towing the Eriba all is dry.

Lots of waves from the Dutch with the Eriba - I'm not sure if it's out of sympathy though !
