small cracks in head(not mine, the engine's)

Hi everyone,
just a question about a 1.9 dg engine really. I just got a (spare) engine to rebuild for our camper only £25 from fleabay. Today we stripped it down and found that it is in excellent condition apart from a crack on each head between the valves( 2 per head), these cracks have not gone into the valve seats. My question is, is this normal and do I have to replace the heads? I do have the means to have these cracks welded and reprofiled but is it worth it? cheers for looking, Mark and pauline

Its farily common, its rare they cause a problem.
