Well,....
as we know the side has in the past had a thump so
Image
we have a bulge..............
anyway ive sat the new panal on to start trying to tie it in
Image
..
Image
front end, it looks a bit rough at the moment but will tidy fine
Image
clamped it to the sill and the ends are fine but we ...I  ....have this issue to try sort
Image
this is from the inside, im trying to keep the new stuff straight and pull this stretched curve back in,it has 2 chances if it goes wrong then scrap really as i cant shrinki filler
Image
so i do what i usually do and clamp a bed iron (good cos they are spring steel and dont bend and stay bent as angle tends to)
Image
so we have now got it sort of inline
Image
lunch calls so a coat of product first
Image
better
i have also stuck the porta power inside and pushed the skin from the inside so its held rigid to work with, ive done other stuff to help me stress the join to hold it and hopefully relieve the outward bulge, its ok writing it up now but at the time it really was an unknown.
Image
seam good enough
Image
always keep checking
Image
ive slacked in the past and had to start all over again
its "in" just a touch which is good
Image
so a few tacks and i work these in a certain order so the heat expands the low area and help with the proud bulgy bit, its a little hit and miss so try bias it a bit more hit..
Image
...
Image
front closure getting made
Image
note the raised /swaged center section and at the front its then swaged the other way to clear the lug that it part of the outrigger, ive pointed to this
Image
so tomoz the simple bit of adding these then sealant and more product etc
Image
which leaves the rear disaster area, and looking to motc later in week
mm :D

When we got The Bus there was a dint about a foot back from the front end of the front sill seam .... looks like someone got surprised by the turning circle at some point in its past.

Am I right in thinking that the panel strengthener is bent, not attached to the panel?

No kev, the strengthener got bent and hence dislodged when it was bumped, the panel obviously stretched and got hammered about and filled with pod,no big issue here but when i come and cut the bottom of then i upset the balance of it and with nothing to hold the bottom in place it thinks yippee and pops out, think of it like a lady undoing a waspie :rofl

Excellent pictures mm, I've just today cut out my drivers side sill which turns out was constructed from 3/4" of filler, going to order the B post and outer sill from Scofields tomorrow

Image

but could you let us know what you are painting between the seams with and what primer you are using on all the new panels, Zinc 182?##

Pretty good, looks like it's hit something low in the past and just caved the outer in, so rather than weld a new one in somebody used a "pooh" load of filler

I'll grab pictures of the inside tomorrow

Well..im not  its come out in virtually one piece though
test fit of this first
Image
so making the rear, im doing this in 3 parts as its easier to fabricate
Image
the holes are to spot through to the tabs on the chassis extensions, ive chosen to replicate this area from an aesthetic point of view , no its not exact but it is good enough i hope, an added complication is that a step back has to be formed as the chassis ends are set further back than the natural run of the panal itself.
this is the centre bit
Image
ive butt welded it all as i didnt want lips back here for obvious reasons
this is with new channel dropped in to confirm fit
Image
...
the pen lines here show the angles of these bits
Image
just got the new channel to drill out and weld in
Image
..
Image
when thats done and treated i will tape all the internal seams and brush some seam sealer over it
Image
mm :D
