Bleeder rail clips

Post by Smiffo »

Afternoon all.

I have recently swapped out my bleeder rail for a plastic one, after snapping an inlet off the old metal variety
Unfortunately some of the plastic clips that hold it in place around the top of the engine bay have perished too, leaving the rail a little `un-secure` ( for lack of a better phrase. )

I can't seem to find any anywhere, neither BW, VW heritage, or via any other google searches.
I will probably have to try and work around it and use something else - maybe zip ties that screw in or something - but was wondering if anyone else has had to take an alternative route too?

Anyone else been in this situation?
If so, what did you use to fasten the bleeder rail, and where did you source from?

I am thinking I may just go to a normal hardware store to see what they have - perhaps take an old one and find the closest equivalent they can offer.
Let me know your stories.

Not your life story - just bleeder rail specifics please - this ain't Jeremy Kyle..!!

I think you have found sonmething that will work..!!

Looks to be about the right size to attach to the body, and although not available, 10mm would be better to go around the hose.
I will add a few of the 8mm and 11mm ones to my `boot` now and see which is best :ok

Top man Itchy. I stupidly only looked in the `coolant` section of BW...

Anchor cable ties? Although I am not sure about the possibilities of heat degradation of the ties. I know that you petrol guys like to run very hot engines sometimes! :run

Those cable ties are what I was thinking I would need to use, OBG.
Hopefully those clips from BW will work.

Ref running hot engines - If you can't cook an egg on your engine cover, it ain't hot enough..!!! :rollin

Worth spening an hour or two on Brickwerks and Heratige just surfing the parts, rather than doing it when you need bits. You won't remember it all but you will remember alot.

Hi,

I've taken my bleeder rail out as converting to Subaru, so may have some clips left...so shout if you still need them.

Cheers, Richard

Top man Richard.
I have already placed an order for some now - if they don't fit or are not good enough, I will PM you if that is OK?

Steve.
