Yes it does, thanks. Im going to use brackets as well. Did you screw the brackets to the frame though? I can't get to the other side to use a nut and bolt.

I used nutserts, thus, access to the rear wasn't required. I did this because I didn't want to weld the bracket in permanently as plans change around my gaff quite frequently!
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

Sorry if I'm putting a damper on this but I would suggest you mention your plan to your insurer before you do this. Insurers take a dim view of such modifications unless an engineers report is made so as to sign the work off as being safe.
A mate of mine is an independent insurance assesor and he recently looked at a T3 that had caught alight. He noticed it had had an electric power steering conversion fitted and noted it on his report. The underwriters checked and as that work had not notified to the insurer, they threw the claim out. Ironically, the wiring on the job wasn't related to the engine bay fire

A good point! I am going to compile a list of modifications prior to me renewing my insurance. I am not looking forward to it as it is a homebrew camper!

They can if they like. Basically, the p.s work was done before the fire. Had that work been noted on the policy beforehand, ongoing insurance wouldn't have been compromised. An appeal to the ombudsman might do the trick, perhaps for a reduced settlement, but the policy will say that all modifications need to be notified, and that's their out clause at the end of the day

Blimey! With a home brew then, I guess I'm going to have to turn up list in hand and a*** firmly clenched when I come to sort the insurance?

When it comes to safety items: think twice, think again, then don't. Unless you really know what you are doing. Few really do.
Its all well and good for selfish singletons to live dangerously but not when there are kids involved.
Three point belt are easy to sort out, even in a converted panel van (even if the aftermarket rock 'n' roll benches leave a lot to be desired) so there is no excuse for a lash-up in the cab.
There are more experienced parents on here than me, but I would simply say that kids are safer in the back, with an adult or siblings to keep them company.
Yes its lonely for the driver, but better that than distractions on top of tiredness that could lead to a tragedy.

Wise words of advice there. We have found a suitable car seat designed to work with a lap belt, following the advice of others on here. After the thread, I think we will stick to that rather than double front seat.

Luckily for me, I'm as experienced in fabrication as SB is in his realm, thus, thinking once was sufficient to assemble a safe 'restraint' for a double seat. Without seats in the back, upfront is as good as it gets. My boys are inquisitive and being in the back wouldn't suit our family on a drive because the questions and answers wouldn't be heard due to the noise!!
