Wing mirrors

Post by brookseysblues »

Hi, I bought my T25 in Aug last year, at the time the wing mirrors kept dropping down on both sides and looked v tatty so I thought if I replace them with new ones the problem would be sorted . So I replaced them with brand new ones from JK and lo and behold the problem still happens on both sides! So I have to adjust them often which is a real pain of course. Any advice that anybody can give to stop this happening would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance! Pete

I keep posting this solution - it must come up if you were to search. Dismantle the mirror, dip your ball in grease then dab it in sand, rebuild. Saves buying carp new mirrors. Saves keep tightening the nut and shearing the bolt also.

I used the sand idea, but didn't work. Two different types of sand - nothing. But I found an idea using rubber tap washers. Perfect! Now they doesn't slip. :D

Didn't work? It can't fail - you increase the friction a thousand fold so much that you can end up making them unmoveable if you tighten up too much. Mine haven't moved for the last ten + years so you must have done something wrong.

This message problem is posted here about twice a month. It is so disappointing that the OEM Hagus has not addressed the cause of this simple problem, by installing the original spec tension spring, which is much thicker than the one currently fitted. That would solve the problem. Will they ever listen to frustrated customers?

Maybe nobody has mentioned it to them.If everyone who has had a problem with the mirrors contacted them, they might do something about it.But then again.

I must have done something wrong? It's just to pair of ball sockets, it's not rocket science. I understand the methodology perfectly. Sand / rubber washer are the same method of securing them, for me, one works and one doesn't.
