Replacing LDA unit.

Post by nordberg »

Hi there.
Just received my second hand LDA unit. Any tips or tricks on replacing? Is it just a straight swap over our will it need to be adjusted for my van? I noticed there is some thread adjustment on the output rod. Wasn't sure if this was pre set or there to be tweaked.

As always, any help much appreciated

Have you checked that it works properly?[I have an old tyre valve pushed in to some tubeing,i then push the tube on to the lda, connect the tyre pump to the valve, push the pump so the lda shaft extends and see if the shaft stays extended]
Match the shaft length to the old lda,you can adjust later!
I dont think, so I'm not[do I exist?]

I've swapped out over now. I blew into the vacuum port and the arm extended a bit. That was about as much of a test as I gave it. Not ideal I know. The old one clearly has some sort of leak. Did the same on that one and the rod moves a small amount but doesn't stay out and you can hear it leaking. I did look at the length of adjustment on the rod and extended marginally a couple of thread lengths to marry with the original one. However, I did have to pull the rod out a tad too get it to locate in the ball on the fuel lever. This sound ok or is there a set way to adjust now fitted?

Cheers

Andy

Hi Smash, the "lda" actuator is a can with a rod,the rod pushes a lever on the injection pump, the lever allows more Diesel into the pump system. The "lda" is controlled by air from the "turbo".
Have a look at the "Wiki" for pictures of the Jx Diesel engine.
