I will admit, I have only taken it up there once. Straight line stability was not good but the engine was still smooth and quiet.

Well I suppose it is a 2.5

The most mine ever did was 75, and that was a slight downhill (the speedo said 140kmh though, completely inaccurate!)

If you're travelling on an english road with a 30 mph limit, you should have a device saying what speed you at IN miles per hour

I do. Without any need for stickers or dismantling the dash.

I just remember...
30 = 20
50 = 30
65 = 40
80 = 50
100 = 60
115 = 70

We can all do that, surely?

agreed...wind noise is much more of a factor than the loverly smooth diesel way out at the back...gently wafting us along...economically.....over great distances

especially as I pretty much always drive with the windows down....as long as its not lashing it down

There are no problems going through an MOT with a KMH speedo but I must admit to swapping mine to MPH a year or so after importing (1989 California imported in 1997).
I rather liked the idea of a smaller steering wheel which was more of a deciding factor in buying a HUD satalite speed device and 5 years on its still going strong. Not available now but thoroughly recommended if you ever come across one. its magnitic so just sticks to the metal dash...on our way to Stanford Hall 4 - 5 years ago.

Just quick update on this one. The Northern Ireland MOT has always been stricter than in the UK (only in specialized, dedicated MOT centres). Mine passed last week but he said that I MUST add a 70 mph sticker to the speedo. Like some of the other guys here, I have stickers on the dash with 20, 30, 40, 50, written on it and their km/h equivalent next to them. But there was no 70 mph. He said that because 70 was the speed limit I wouldn't know when I was above it without a marker on the speedo!!! He said he would fail me next time....
