There is no manual choke on these vans. Automatic choke on carburettor petrol engines is actuated by depressing the accelerator pedal once before starting

Haha! Cheers numbers I did it on my phone and even bothered to draw circle and an arrow for ease and still get that award! So it's a cold start pump advance. Great. I'll leave it alone then. Cheers guys!

Makes for easier starting in winter on some engines. My CS engine didn't need it but current engine does.

I know pretty much zero about Diesels but -

I suppose that if you called it thus people who who have only ever had a petrol engine would understand its purpose. :) Completely different function but as you say - cold starting assistance device.

not a manual choke in the old sense, they used to double as a handbag peg for lady drivers :rofl
