215/75/15 AT tyre pressure

Post by Winchweight »

Hi guys, just getting our tyres swapped over, but unsure of the ideal pressures.
Currently running 3bar/43psi as van has no PAS.

What pressure do you run on your 215s?

I thought it would be 36psi (2.5Bar) front and 42psi (3Bar) rear?

Is it a good idea to have differential pressures front to rear, given the critical nature of the rolling radius etc vs the VC?

Someone will correct me if I wrong, but there is more weight at the rear, hence higher pressure.

Only fitted them today, but have 3 bar all around until I hear differently. Would like more opinions on this one, cos it drives great and is pretty light on the steering too.

Well I have a rather heavy Audi 2.2 5-pot engine in the back, so 36 rear and 30 front balances things out nicely on the Syncro, The Aircooled Devon is 30 front 42 rear cus it carries loads of stuff! sometimes I put 48 in back.

Just put some 205/80/14 van rated road tyres on 6x14 steel eight spoke wheels on the syncro for road use, and have put 30 front 36 rear on that, it feels very stable (and much much more road driveable than the mud terrains!) the muds slipped on braking on a damp road, not nice!

My westie has the correct pressures for the correct tyres, on a plate on the bulkhead. It is visible when you open the left hand front door in front of the step. 39 psi for front wheels and 48 psi for the rears.
