16" drums max measurement

Post by lloydy »

I have a set of 16" drums that i'm cleaning up, before i spend too much time on them is there a maximum dimension or wear limit?
They have a very slight lip on them, maybe 1mm..
So if someone has the new vs max worn dimensions i'd be a happy man
thank yoo

That's the one.. :ok I would grind the lip off using a angle grinder and a flap disc...just the lip..don't you into the shiney bit..makes it possible to whip the drums off to clean without having to wind the adjuster back each time.

I am confused, are you asking about diameter or thickness?

For new discs the thickness is 16mm and the wear limit 13-14mm

I would use them at that...it is also possible to get shoes relined by brake specialists with over sized friction material....obviously there is a point where safety becomes a factor but its possible..
