LHD to RHD Headlights

Post by Tufty_B »

I guess that this has been asked lots of times but I can't find anything in the forums or on the web.

What options are there to convert twin LHD square headlights to RHD headlights (square or round)?

One option is to use headlight convertors, but these will effect light output on dip. Also I understood that for the MOT, the convertors are only supposed to be a temporary solution.

Another option is to buy a set of UK RHD square lights but I hear that these are like rocking horse "pooh" and as a result pricey.

How about twin round lights, how easy/cheap is it getting hold of a set with grill?

Is there any other option, i.e. a third party lights?

I swapped to the SA twin headlight grill, can be bought from vw heritage or just kampers. Genuine VW as well, so no need to worry about quality of parts

Doh!
I didn't search for the parts, I searched to find it if peeps has done it and how easy, costly it might be.

Is it best to go for the original headlights/bulbs, or are there better 3rd party alternatives?

i started off the same as you, with LHD squares. I got the grill and inner lights as a kit from just kampers and got the outer lights from brickwerks as they come with the mounting brackets. Bulb wise, i just got the brightest from the brickwerks site.. nightbreaker or something similar. Not that cheap, but you can claw back a fair bit by selling your square lights and grill
