I'm looking at changing my front passenger seat in my Autohomes Komet for a double seat with built in inertia seat belts. Found a load of different one on ebay, from ex LDV van ones to Fiat Ducato ones.
My question is what is the max width i can get away with, and does the double seat fitted as standard make it difficult to get to the hand brake.
The last double seat i looked at on Ebay was from a fiat ducato and was 910mm max width, it would fit in but ended up covering the hand brake. Can you reach forward and underneath to get to it?

830mm between the mounting brackets on the bulkhead for the back rest.

Sorry no pics they have been replaced with Saab seats now, I've measured from the edge of the bracket to the side of the drivers seat and the gap would have been around 120mm.

Have you got anywhere with the ducato seats? I was looking at these on eBay a while back as we have a baby on the way and wanted a slightly bigger/better/safe double seat up front.
Not actually seen any in the flesh to go over, just wondered if you had.

Hiya, the Ducato seats are too wide to fit in the front i think. Got one of the people selling them on Ebay to give me the measurements and chucked a tape over the front part of my van. It was very very tight and left no room to get to the hand brake underneath.
I found the LDV double seats with built in seat belts were the perfect measurements but haven't bought one yet.
Its on my shopping list of to do's.
Bought an inertia reel belt to fit in the back at some point.
