T3 Multivan Exhaust

Post by dancingcrane »

hI I was over in the wanted section but makes more sense to ask here:

I have a 1990 T3 Multivan Bluestar 1.6td JX engine...

this thing (anyone know what its called?) joining the exhaust/silencer is frazzled...

http://s1366.photobucket.com/user/edelw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... a.jpg.html

i think it's because of this causing engine to rattle excessivelyrattling (i jst guessed its called the engine mount?)

http://s1366.photobucket.com/user/edelw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... a.jpg.html

the mesh thing joinging the two bits of exhaust is fabricated into the exhaust...anyone ever fashioned one up at home, and if so, any tips????

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

No pics but .... is this what you are after? ( I thought that the flexi ones were only fitted on the non-turbo ones)

Repair flexi joints available easy enough - like these. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Every-Exhaust- ... =643145819 No welding needed.

also, i noticed an oil leak from the hole in the mesh... not excessive but... since discovering the leak in the exhaust the van has started smoking- grey white smoke- (quite a lot when cold started and going up hill, but it clears itself up after 15 minutes of driving)...no overheating, perhaps a little weaker than usual too going up hills. My feeling is that the worn gearbox mount (see pic above) has rattled everything, causing the hole in the exhaust; could it affect the turbocharger too (erk), and would this explain the oil coming from exhaust, and smoke???? any tests you can recommend to assess? i repalced the cylinder head only 3k miles ago

- first thing is to replace that section of exhaust and gearbox mount
then turbocharger?

thanks!
