I have discovered a 70A relay on the sidewall above the earth crowns behind the fusebox. Before I dive in there and attempt to trace it has anyone come across the like on a van. Proper hefty wiring to it so is wired for all those amps. It may well be a headlight mod by a previous owner but it is difficult to access to pull the relay to see what stops working.
Please someone save my brain cells and hair as I don't really want to get down and dirty with the wiring.
That'll teach me to not poke around if everything is working.
Damn thing is in a base and difficult to get at - don't know how they got it in there. When you have afuritis you don't like to try these upside down and sideways manoeuvres any more.
Ah well, a- tracing I shall have to go.
No closer to any idea. Cannot get it to click with anything!
It looks factory - a bliddy great earth, bliddy great red and a red/blue trigger wire disappear into the factory loom! There is a hefty strip fuse on the relay base. Poring over wiring diagrams now.
The only thing that it could be,looking through all wiring diagrams, is the rad fan relay - this has a red/blue trigger wire on petrol models but not on diesels that I can see. But, relay no. 5 is supposed to be the fan relay.
I have one of them too....having just been under there to check my earths for faulty tachometer problem.....
Didn't fix my problem even with replacing 2 earths, and don't know what that is we have all got either.
Sorry

Maybe relay no. 5 isn't the rad fan relay after all - all our previous info is incorrect. (mind you it is supposed to be the second stage relay, which wouldn't need to be as hefty as there would be no start up current as the fan should already be operating)
Strange that no one has queried this relay before!
