Yes, done both KKK and Garret seal kits... wouldn't recommend the KKK. Much prefer the T2 Garrets. Just my personal view though. Due to great care when re-assembling, and need for balance, suggest one of the re builders best option.
There is only one oil level, and that is the right one. On a std installation fully drain or with a new build put in 4.5 litres, run it, let it settle and scribe the dipstick there and then.
Can then adjust slightly with experience e.g. oil pressure fluctuations, smoke or not etc. Ignore cold smoke, unless horrendous - usually just an oily inlet tract or turbo seal drip.

Re: 1.6 TD JX Spitting Oil from Exhaust
Hi I've got a similiar problem with my JX1.6td:
- oil drip from exhaust (discovered when exhaust developed a hole)
- grey/white smoke when stepping on the gas
I did the cylinder head/gasket less than 2k miles ago so am hopeful its nothing there.
Smoke clears up when cruising, only really when pulling off in 2nd/3rd/4th where it puffs out a cloud-
Turbo?
Any other telltale signs of a dodgy turbo?
Thanks

Quite normal. Turbo seals or too high oil level or banked over in a RH corner, maybe climbing. If it's white then worry...

it's greyish white...never had any smoke before...and it seems to be getting worse...I'm worried!

Well keep a very accurate eye on water level for now then, although it may not be using much at all.
And ask yourself if you did everything spot on when changing the head gasket I suppose
