sticking valve
sold my 1700 diesel today and bought a lovely autohomes komet,it hasnt been used since october last year ,.While driving it home it was lacking power and felt a bit lumpy the owner said its a sticking valve,is this a problem that happens to 1900 petrol engines.

after putting a few miles on it ,now its sorted runs great..

Indeed.....common tappet bleed down scenario.
As with all things new 'to you'....it is wise to give it an service and thorough check over so you can spot ant faults.

van was recently serviced by previous owner and for a 1984 camper only has 81,000 genuine miles,he couldnt sort this problem ,but because van was so clean i took a gamble and after only 9 ish miles the problem sorted itself out.

do you know what was used for the service.?
I don't know if dervs are the same but an oil change twice a year is the best for flat fours on petrol.
