Andreas gearbox wrench

Post by AndreasLidl »

Hello,

I'm a moderator of the German Syncro forum, and I want to introduce you my new "invention".

This is about the theme on the differential bearing rings .

Recently appeared in forum "IG-syncro16" this:

Hallo,

Certainly many a one of you has struggled with this multi-tooth ring and various "botch methods" applied because he had no suitable tool, and such did not want to set a lot of money.

I speak also from myself.

Just as it has represented Martin in the photo above, it could work so only because his gear was only months before a complete overhaul. There was nothing sized or clamped!

I have now considered to this solution:

This key is from 10mm Steel lasered (ST52).

The 22 teeth have a very good fit.

In the two square holes (1/2 inch) can be used normal ratchet box tools.

To test the strength of the key, I've created using a torque wrench 200 Nm. (More can not afford my torque wrench.) The key was totally unaware of it and showed no deformation.

Image

Since you can attach two wrenches at the same time, can be applied loosely to 500 Newton meters.

Who sympathetic concentric actuation, which can be so easy to weld an old nut on it.

Image

However, I think this is totally unnecessary, the Andreas-gearbox-wrench would become bulkier and heavier. In the normal state, it weighs 300 grams.

Image

I've had time to make a few pieces of it suspect.

If anyone is interested, I sell them at cost price of € 13,50.

This is the total price including shipping to all countries.

If you are interested, please send me a message.

If necessary, I may have manufactured more wrenches.

Note:
This Andreas-gearbox-wrench is certainly not a professional tool for daily use. But for occasional use, it is a great help. And he still is guaranteed to fit into any tool box.

Greetings Andreas

Anmerkung:

:o There are tools on eBay de..this looks like a cost effective basic tool...if 500 Newton meters is need to undo the bearings you're going to need a gearbox!

to undo the bearing adjusting rings, sometimes that is what is needed believe me

but these look very useful bit of kit for 99% of the time and the price is very very good, proper tool is a couple hundred dollars now new

ideal if you have to do input shaft changes instead of borrowing my spare tool :ok

Got a PM back from Andreas about payment, its bank transfer only I'm afraid, which doubles the cost for me (including bank charges). So I've gone a bit cool on the idea, unless we do a group buy.. :idea

As I'm a self confessed tool wh*re I would like one as well.

Are these Synchro specific? Matters not as I might have one in the future anyway!!

Andreas, if you PM me your bank details I will arrange transfer when I get back home at the beginning of next month.

Cheers

Hello,

the Andreas wrench is not specific to the Syncro, but also fits the T3 2WD.
