Breakdown Cover

Post by Bowton Lad »

Hi Andy, Who did you insure your van with? Did they offer you breakdown
cover as an add on? At least 2 of the specialist VW camper insurers use Equity Red Star for their breakdown cover @ £42.00 p.a. for rescue, recovery, at home & European cover.

I'm with Britannia Rescue. Costs about £110 a year. That covers myself and my wife driving any vehicle in the UK and the camper is specified for European breakdown as well.

Breakdown Cover

The 2 companies that use Equity Red Star to operate their breakdown cover are Adrian Flux & Footman James. Just Kampers use somebody else.
The cover is good at £42.00 p.a. but if you need cover to drive other vehicles then it's probably not suitable for you.
My van's insured with NIG through Adrian Flux.

One point to think about is that many of the recovery operatives who turn out to broken down vehicles are in fact agents for several different companies.
The recovery guy who transported my van back from Cheshire in May was acting for Flux Rescue (Equity Red Star) but he was also the local agent for Green Flag.
