many thanks. The star seems to have mixed reviews and something about electric hook up although it appears to be in the hands of new owners. would you recommend ayn in particular? looking for a quiet site where boys can play football and i can walk dog.

hi
i really like glencote.
quiet, spotless, well run, play field with basket ball / football , fishing lake....next to churnet valley steam railway (proper one) 5 mins from a nice canal towpath...and a great family friendly pub called the boat.
dog walk along the canal to another pub called the black lion...a real find if you like old fashioned pubs with character
the site is a real gem....i have been half a dozen times....and i only live 20 mins away....
that would be my choice.

I stayed at The Star a few weeks ago for 2 nights. We were a T25, large tent, pup tent, 2 adults and 5 children of all ages. Site was very nice, very clean and well equipped. Nice pub within walking distance and local town short drive with all the amenities you need. Very close to alton Towers itself.
The owner showed me a variety of pitches and was at pains to help us find a hardtanding (with hook up) where we could put the big tent close (not not closer than 6m - fire regs) and yet it of course was not on hardtanding but also had a hook up. I'd use it again.
Good kids' play area as well - kept the younger ones amused for a while.
