Re: 1Y engine conversion

Post by blue67 »

My last post may have been a little vague.

I am completely happy that the engine is timed up 100% accuratly.

When the engine is tarted it fires, and revs to a fast idle and stays there, there is no variation in engine speed if the throttle is moved, it stays at the same speed.

I have already checked and double checked the unioins, as suggested, i have had a thought regarding the cold start cable choke thing on the pump, if i had set this to far open would i have the symptoms above?

If it is the lift pump side of the pump that has failed and a rebuild or replacement is required could i rebuild this? i have an untra sonic cleaning tank and would be happy to sit and methodicaly o through it if the correct kit of seals were available, would i need any special tools?

I dont recall removing the throttle spindle assembly but may have as this must have been the longest engine conversion ever ! I am interested what people have done with regards the trottle lever on this conversion as it stands proud of the engine bay, are there any simple alternatives, parts from other pumps or cars that can be used to keep it all inside the engine bay or shall i go down the route of chopping a hole in my engine lid? i am aware that brickwerks sell a kit for this but being a tight broke northerner i dont really wanna fork out if there is any other alternatives?

i this has been moved how do i reset it? as at the moment i have a double spring and shock absoprber arrangement i am not really sure how all that works?

Thankyou to everyone who has offed advice so far, i really appriciate all your help and suggestions :ok

If you have a spare evening, you might find this thread about rebuilding pumps interesting.
