Opening Quarter Light Catch
I need to remove my quarter light catch as when it was installed is was not turned to the correct position, how do you remove this catch?

Re: Opening Quarter Light Catch
The catch has a pin through it according to vagcat
have a look under type 2 then 1990 then body then vent wing parts to see how it breaks down
http://www.vagcat.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (you need to register)

Re: Opening Quarter Light Catch
Only thing is to tap it out using a punch. Maybe it needs the window frame removing and doing on a bench

Re: Opening Quarter Light Catch
My pin was falling out so had to tap it back in.
Some sort of small punch, bradawl, maybe even a strong needle, very thin flat bladed screwdriver, drill bit... etc... a few light taps with a hammer... then the catch should pull off

Will remove the glass and try taping it out on the bench, hope I don't loose the little bugger when it's out!!

Re: Opening Quarter Light Catch
Yeah it would probably be easier to take the glass out, it's only two Torx screws

Re: Opening Quarter Light Catch
My Torx screws were loose so tightened them back up, and the pin was hanging out... so tapped it in. I opened the quarter window so that the catch was outside of the van, then it's a bit easier to take a swing to tap the pin back in
Good as new now

Re: Opening Quarter Light Catch
So I managed to remove the pin, it was well and truly stuck, ended up having to hammer it out (gently tho) to get it out. The problem was the catch wasn't fitted correctly in the first place and didn't quite keep the window securely shut. All sorted now and I can enjoy a fully working quarterlight.
