Resprays in London or surrounding areas

Post by ajt1503 »

I know that there has been several previous topics on people trying to find a recommended garage for a respray.. i've spent the last two hours reading all of the previous responses.. i just wanted to know if anyone knows or can recommend any garages in london or surrounding areas for a respray, and a little bit of welding..

the ones mentioned in previous forums were autocrash in croydon and westgate motors in hackney..

any information would be appreciated. thanks

I've used this guy before - http://www.crashrepairslondon.co.uk/ - although it was for some work on the Saab rather than the camper. Did a decent job for a reasonable price, though, and he used to own a T25 so he knows his way around them.

I was only having a little joke. I'm not from near you so sorry I don't know any.

Good luck with the work you need doing. I have put similar questions up and had similar silly answers but also very helpful answers; hopefully someone will come along to help.

I have no idea about your experience with the T25 but you may find you need more welding than you first hoped. Hopefully not though!!

Regards, Jon.

If anyone wants to see what a Westgate motors respray looks like after a few months, I've still got most of the paint that flaked off on my driveway.

I was having a snoop around that Bay the other day while Bill was quickly welding up my exhaust! Full on job eh?

"pooh", is that still a mess Ben? I feel bad for recommending him now, although I think yours was an anomaly, as quite a few others have come out good.

He did some welding and fabrication for me about three years ago and the welds are still good with no seam rash coming through. Recently did a crank shaft seal and clutch change which is having to go back though. He seems to have a continuous procession of vans through as there are so many in the area so I guess they're getting quite used to the ins-n-outs of them!

Don't worry mate, you can only go on experience and yours was obviously a good one. It's still a mess though, have just started to look around at getting it painted again now which is what lead me to this post.

Ok- sorry to hear about bad experiences with Bills work, I've been checking on my mates bay from start to finish and was a good job at fair price with few shortcuts. It's possible they do different level/quality of work for different prices but perhaps I'm just being biased. If its flaking off after a short period anyone worth their stuff would want to correct it surely? Have you taken the van back there? I do know another ace with a pro paint oven that looks good. It's neR the bottom of Kingsland road down a side alley as if you're going from kingsland rd to hackney road. Otherwise I'd suggest you could try the guys with a garage in front of Megabug. Personally I'd try to flat it and consider a careful roller job or good quality rattle cans- have done well with an Ebay company called Nu agane!

I took it back and he re-painted it, twice. It got worse each time. I suspect because he hadn't done enough prep in the first place. Glad to hear your mates is looking good though, hope it comes out well.
Thanks for the tips, will look into those places once I've got the cash together.

I had the lower half of my old van sprayed at Beetlemania in Muswell Hill. They did a good job.
I sold the van 5 months later so really can,t say what long term looked like.
