Substitute Headrests

Post by Bluezinc »

Hello,

We have a Caravelle with the plastic cut out headrests, but would like to swap them for something a bit more comfortable, does anyone know of any other makes of headrests which will fit in the same holes? The fixing poles are about 10 inches apart, which seems pretty wide in comparison to new seats.

Thanks

I think Rover 200/400 headrests fit. Not 100% sure though.

I haven't got headrests in mine - I have head restraints to mitigate the whiplash effect of a shunt. They are meant to be functional not comfortable!
You must have a mighty odd driving position if you use them as headrests whilst driving.

I chose to change what I have.
I used to have the holed headrest, so I had them reupholstered to be nice and comfy

I could do with two new headrests, for some reason my van has two completely different styles. A (very brief) Ebay search but just brings up the headrests with integrated screens or headrest covers.

Not so much for the drivers comfort, more for the passengers, I guess we want to add comfort to the existing function. :D

I think I'm going to go this route, yours do look fabulous. Were the holes filled using the type of thing xriss suggested before they were reupholstered, or are the holes still there underneath?

Thanks

The headrest hole centres are standard across the VW range of the period, so Golf 2 etc. will fit afaik.

Audi's from the 80 onwards with the upholstered "square donut" used a wider pitch and different plastic guides in the seat back, so not an option. But they'd look about the same anyway!
