strip the rear mech and clean all the crud out of it and lube it, they usually work well after that

Our 1980 2.0l petrol air cooled developed this very problem over the last month or so.

I checked all guide channels are free of obstructions and any noticeable 'crud' then simply sprayed the upper, middle and lower channels with Plusgas (or any other penetrating fluid i.e. WD40 will be fine) and now it is like new again... :ok

Yes, it pushes the 'U' shaped center pin/roller assembly outwards away from the body.

Any other ideas about the cause and cure for this jamming / sticking problem? When our slider is closed it can be difficult to open sometimes. Turn the outside handle down, give the door a pull and it doesn't budge (as if something hasn't released / disengaged perhaps?), so needs a couple more pulls before it opens  :(

I've tried eating extra porridge / weetabix / shredded wheat / spinnach but I don't think this is the right solution!

I've cleaned, greased, oiled the top, middle and bottom runners but still no joy. I think our slider is the early version.

Cheers

Tony
