Re: 2wd as good as a syncro!
Gawd...this thread is so addictive!
As LittleMissSunshine said......I also wish you all the luck and hope you are satisfied with what you buy.
Loads of things you say don't really add up tho. Who is going to pick it up? You said you were driving it back, but the guy is picking your dad up from the airport???
I do think you need to do some more research tho. The right vehicle will turn up.....and hopefully one that you don't need to totally rebuild to suit your needs.
The guys (and gals) on here who are replying to your questions are just so very knowledgable and helpful. Does your dad read the comments too?
As I said before....best of luck with your venture and I look forward to the follow up thread

Re: 2wd as good as a syncro!
You are buying a Syncro.
The Syncro you are buying does not have difflocks.
Its still a 4x4.
You do not need difflocks to go off road.
You can have them retro fitted by Aidan
I have never used my front difflock
My rear difflock has been stuck for the last year and only got stuck once
With careful driving you will have great fun off road
You dont need difflocks ..... nice but not necessary.

Re: 2wd as good as a syncro!
Im not taking the p!ss .
I am asking questions and either gettingg back no answers or ones i dont understand. And no one is saying yes thats right or no thats wrong.
So if it doesnt have the plastic thing with the knobs on its not a syncro?
And if it doesnt have the plastic thing does that mean it doesnt have a prop/vc/syncro gearbox?
My dad is going to go over to europe and buy one for me with my money and drive it back.

And this is why the suggestion was made that maybe you need to do a bit more research.........
.......so that you WILL understand the answers you are getting from these knowledgable types.
