Take it from me, I own a RHD.....

I always wanted a RHD when I got a van, just because that's what I'm used to...I'm pleased I have one, but it's come at a premium in the long run I'd say.
But in full retrospect, I wish I'd gone for a cheaper LHD. Wouldve got more for my money that's for sure!

For the offroading, it makes no difference whatsoever once you're used to that side of the van, and most especially driving in europe would much more of a pleasure with a LHD.

If it were my choice again, i'd go LHD.

I nearly bought that van before its present owner had it. It belonged to a chap called Pete Nice back then and I think he was asking around the £3400 mark for it and after taking it for a drive and giving it the once over i offered him £1800 for it, as in all honesty due to the bad panel replacement and the other mechanical stuff and missing parts that seems to have been sorted since it was worth £1800 to me. Pete came down to £2300 and although it was only £500 over my offer you have to stick to your guns on what you think something is worth or what your budget is. Three days after I turned him down the Westy turned up and I managed to bag that for £1600 with some help from a friend and I ended up with the diesel van of my dreams that I could have only fantasized about owning in the past. The Caravelle is obviously worth more now due to some work that has been done and prices rising etc but I would always hold out for what is right, and if your truly serious you need to get anything of value you dont need or want on ebay and have the cash waiting to jump on that dream van when it finds you. If it doesnt show then you will have to up your budget or settle for something else that might not have been your first choice.

I know, and the £1600 got me the van I had always dreamed about having. 1 x Westfalia diesel Syncro

Any one of the people who use this forum could have bought it though as the info was out there to follow up if anyone could have been bothered. They didnt and Jake did
