Re: 2wd as good as a syncro!
Has anyone converted diesel to veg?
Im considering it. A kit for it costs about £600
And a few years ago i found out that it costs 15p per ltr. Inc tax.

Not any more, funnily enough price of veg jumped as soon as the duty was reduced.

Re: 2wd as good as a syncro!
i run my doka on veg oil bio fuel which my mate makes. i pay £1/l and it sometimes smells like doughnuts. i havent noticed any difference in performance ( not that is has much anyway) or mpg.
he runs his car on filtered waste oil which he collects from pubs etc and he just has about £50 worth of preheating stuff fitted in the engine just to thin the oil before it reaches the pump.
if i had £600 for an engine kit i would spend it instead on some conversion equipment to crack used oil ( often free still from restaurants etc) into bio fuel.
it isnt that tricky once you know how.

I borrowed a transhit a little while that ran on veg oil and the smell used to make me feel ill. I couldnt get that chip shop smell out of my head for ages afterwards.

Re: 2wd as good as a syncro!
filtered used oil is the smelliest. especially if it was used to death before it was discarded.
the cracked oil is quite mild smelling with just hint of cheap sausages on a bbq or doughnuts if you are lucky.
but i now cant stand the smell of diesel. my last tankfull was diesel as i couldnt get the veg in time and it just smelt and felt dirty.
will be back on veg as soon as i have the boxes back in.
cant answer the lez question cooper as i dont really know what it is.
i may start a new thread on that one.

As long as it is a caravelle (mpv) or motorhome it would be anyway.
If it is a panel van, Doka or Sika it wouldn't be.

Re: 2wd as good as a syncro!
Ive been told that people dont always put up their syncro as a syncro in the title. Ie ebay for instance. How can i find out that its a syncro without it being in the description?

Re: 2wd as good as a syncro!
most noticeable visual difference is the fuel filler cap. 2wd are in front arch rhs and syncro is in the rhs rear panel.

Check for 4x4 in the description and also the fuel filler should be on the rear side panel (drivers side RHD) and not over the front wheel
