Re: lights on clocks
I have a similar problem, no solution as yet, but i'm going to get the voltmeter out this weekend and trace some wires. I've been studying the Haynes wiring pages.
If i have any joy i'll let you know. I'm only up the road in Rotherham so could offer an extra pair of eyes

you have to be a little bit careful about what you 'blow' into your dimmer switch -
i sprayed wd40 into mine and smoke and a burning smell followed -
afterwards the switch couldn't be turned -
so - new dimmer switch for me - (working fine now) -
try moving switch gently - stuck? time for a new one -
for sale in the usual places

Re: lights on clocks
The bulbs lock in and contact the copper strip on the ribbon cable. Use a test lamp or meter and see if you've got a voltage on the copper part of the ribbon. I fitted some new LED bulbs and the spring contacts didn't touch the ribbon when they were locked into the holders. I had to blob some solder onto the tabs on the bulbs to get them to make a good contact. If the copper track has cracked you might be able to repair it with silver conductive paint.

WHS
if its the little dash bulbs on top of the housing -
mine were really stuck on tight n needed a lot of persuading to shift -
check the ribbon to these bulbs -
replace if necessary - again - usual stockists -

Re: lights on clocks
When I got my LED replacement "bulbs" I found that they have to be fitted with the "voltage going the right way"...I had to rotate one of them 180 degrees to make it work....with standard bulbs it doesn't matter which way you fit them.
