I put a wood burner in mine. Its cheap to run, lovely to look at and very cosy. Pictures will go in the "garage" sometime in the next few weeks.

How does the chimney exit the van and how are you preventing damage from it getting (presumably) bluudy hot?

That's truly hideous, a Propex or Eber would use a fraction of the space and be FAR safer. If I could be bothered I would go looking for my favourite image of Mr Darwin

The chimney is single wall for 1/2 m and then double wall for 1m, and a proper terminal, all 4 inch ID. The hole was cut in the fibreglass, and a standard aluminium and silicone rubber flashing piece, sealed with silicone. If I did it again I would use sikaflex polyurethane sealer on the aluminium. I think the driller screws would probably not be needed then.
Some blow back occured during a storm in the outer hebrides, but somewhat to my own surprise, I have never had any water coming down the chimney in rain, or wind, when travelling along. Mind you my max speed is 50mph.
The heat is disipated by the copper, which prevents hot spots. Under the copper, I used Aquapanel (from B&Q), which is cement based with polymer coated fibreglass reinforcement. There are fireproof boards available, which are probably lighter, but definitely more expensive.
Being a syncro, and deisel, the fuel tank is at the rear, so well out of the way. I don't know where the tank is on a 2wd, and I would be much more cautious about petrol.

Between and slightly behind the front seats with the fuel outlet and filter directly under your stove.

I've finally got it together to put pictures of my van with a woodburner in it, in the "garage". Here is one anyway.....

In the flesh, this copper interior looks truly wonderful! Spotted this van in the carpark at the Hay festival yesterday.

id have no issues doing that if it was mine, safety wise its fine as done,just personal taste,
you see lots like that in old hippy busses
