Post by jgaynair »

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me what the correct tyre pressures should be for:

- 205/45/17's (front)
- 255/40/17's (rears)

Please - Appreciate your help!!

Those are car tyres and should not be fitted to a T25 as the load rating is nowhere near high enough.

Safety first.....tyres and wheels should be correctly rated for a van of this weight (around 2450Kg full camper conversion fully laden)
If you choose to ignore this rest assured the Police and your insurance company won't.
Min load rating for tyres being 95.. recommended (97 or higher).

Secondly..as these sizes are non standard quoting tyre pressures is nigh impossible....you could start with 32F/40R and see how the tyres wear following the rough guide/rule of thumb:

Tyres wearing more in the centre of the thread = Over inflated
Tyres wearing both outter edges = Under inflated

Wow - that's a worry!
I've seen these wheels on several T25's - doesn't mean they are safe I guess!? So, are we saying I must change my wheels, or can I get safe tyres for these?
If not, can anyone recommend a wheel type/ size that both looks the business and is safe??
Thanks in advance,
John

It would help to have more details...my crystal ball is in for a service.
All the info on the suitability of the wheels will be cast into the metal (normally on the inside) lots of numbers which translate into:
Make/Size/load

I'm afraid on this occasion that's not going to be any use at all seeing as they are Porsche wheels fitted on a T25.....plus VW never fitted 17" wheels to a T25. :D
