speedo jumping

speedo jumping

can anyone help my speedo as started jumping when i m driveing could it be the steedo drive if so is it a easy job?

It could be the cap on the wheel hub. The cable fits through the square hole in the middle and the hole often has worn letting the cable jump. It might be the cable has parted somewhere along its length and it only catching every few turns. Finally the cable might have come loose at the back of the speedo. Checking either end is pretty easy so do that first.
2ltr Aircooled CU with twin Solex's & originally a 009 dizzie, but now back to standard.

there should be circlip to hold it in place, also at the speedo end there is a white plastic end whch clips onto the back of the speedo, this may have come loose or the retaining clip could be broken off

As I've said elsewhere, disconnect the cable behind the speedo and run 3in1 oil down it. The grease cap/speedo drive is available new from Brickwerks.
