Petrol cap locked with i think key broke inside

Evening

I think my petrol cap has a key broken inside it as my key only goes half way does any one know how to undo it, break it open please? I got the van this summer, it hasnt moved for 5 years and we not had it running so dont know if there is anything in the tank.

you have tried a screw driver?

either way get a good screw driver and turn!!!!

only bits of plastic stop these turning!

The key only goes half way in, at least it does on mine (82 Aircooled).

should go all the way in

if the back red part is chubby then will be same key as ignition /other locks
short rear then small key

commonly seized!

Thanks for your help I sprayed the lock and then put the key in half way and tried it gently....and it turned (mine is 82 air cooled too).

After 10 litres petrol in none came out of pipe beneath so hoping its not completely cacked up inside, but at least we are another step closer!
